Johnson Wildlife Area
Johnson Wildlife Area, spanning 30 acres of prairie on the outskirts of Rockwell City, was generously donated to CCCB by Gary Johnson, a former resident of the farmstead. In the autumn of 2023, Calhoun County Conservation planted native prairie over most of the land, aiming for a flourishing prairie in the coming years. This space is ideal for wildlife, as we've already observed game animals bustling about. Hunting is permitted in this area as long as all rules and regulations are adhered to. If you find yourself nearby, it's definitely worth a visit!
