Dickson Timber Forest Preserve

Dickson Timber is a forest preserve located 3 miles North of Highway 30, on county road N50 on 155 Acres of rolling oak and hickory forest. Many wild plants and animal species call Dickson Timber home. The forest provides habitat for native songbirds especially during migrations, and birds of prey like barred owls, great horned owls, and red tail hawks. Raccoons, deer, squirrels, rabbits, the occasional fox and coyote and many other mammal species live here among the dynamic forest. Hiking through the timber, you'll notice new sapling trees and fallen dead logs which are habitat for numerous insects, spiders, frogs, and toads, reptiles and other small creatures that are the basis in the intricate forest ecosystem.

Visitors may pick strawberries, raspberries, mulberries, elderberries, nuts and mushrooms, but please do not pick wildflowers.
