David Bates Memorial Park



David Bates Memorial Park, located northeast of Union, is a beautiful hidden gem of Hardin County. The area is comprised of 38 acres of mowed park and timber. The location features carry-down river access (#239), primitive camping, and is near a mowed hiking trail, Bates Trail, that connects to Daisy Long Campground. The park is open to public hunting during hunting seasons and offers fishing opportunities along the Iowa River.

Primitive Camping Details

Fees: 

Annual Permit: $100/unit per camping season (April - October each year)

Daily Permit: $10/unit per night - Daily permits are valid for the days listed in the registration form.

*Each primitive park enforces a 14-day stay limit for both daily and annual permit holders. Campers must leave the park once they reach this limit.

Registration must be completed within 30 minutes of arrival.

Once registered, campers will receive an email confirmation for their online payment which will serve as proof of registration.
