Uhlenhopp Arboretum
Uhlenhopp
Arboretum was gifted to Jasper County Conservation by Elliot Uhlenhopp, a
former
chemistry professor at Grinnell College. “The
world needs more trees; plant as many as you can,” and that’s just what he did.
He planted tens of thousands of trees all over his 250 acres and built 7 ponds,
named for the days of the week. There are mowed trails for hiking, a picnic
shelter, food forest and a cabin that is available to rent.
Location
Uhlenhopp Arboretum is located 3 miles North of exit 179, off I-80. Follow T-38 North, then head East on Hwy 6 for 1 mile.
