Cabins Cabins at Tosanak Recreation Area

The Tosanak Recreation Area offers both modern (water and electricity) and rustic (some with electricity, some without) cabins.

All cabin reservations require a 5 day prior to stay period.

Twenty-seven RV sites (10 with sewer/electricity/water and 17 with electricity/water) as well as Primitive camping areas and individual sites.

Camping Camping at Ackley Creek Park
This 40 acre tranquil, shaded campground near a bubbling stream, is popular for RV and tent camping.  Electrical and water hook-ups are available at each campsite. Shower house and dump station available.  There is also a playground for youth to play on.

Primitive camping under mature trees.  Pit toilet restroom available.

West Idlewild Campground contains 15 primitive campsites, which are available on a first come first serve basis, along the Cedar River.

The Fossil & Prairie Center contains exhibits that explain and connect the vairous components of the Fossil & Prairie Park Preserve.  Exhibits include: Rockford Brick & Tile Co. Winnebago River, Devonian Fossils, Iowa's Prairies, and local wildlife.

Historic Visits Historic Visits at Fossil & Prairie Park Preserve and Center
The Rockford Brick & Tile Company is responsible for unearthing the world renowned fossils at the Fossil & Prairie Park Preserve. Producing drainage tile and building bricks they assisted in changing Iowa's landscape.  Hike down to view the remaining bee hive kilns, envisioning the currently wooded area as a bustling manufacturing site.

A semi-enclosed picnic shelter is available at the Fossil & Prairie Park Preserve.  This shelter is a great place for birthday parties or just to take a break from fossil hunting.  Restrooms and drinking fountain are nearby.

In the winter, the trails are groomed for cross country skiing and fat tire bike usage.
