Discover Ruth Hanson Wildlife Area in Rippey

The Ruth Hanson Wildlife Area is a 160 acre wildlife management area with public hunting allowed.  The area is entirely forested with floodplain timber that includes cottonwood, silver maple, walnut,  and some oaks.  Nearly 1 1/2 miles of the North Raccoon River runs through the area with several oxbows included. Hunting opportunity for deer, turkeys, waterfowl, furbearers and small game is provided here.  The North Raccoon River provides  fishing opportunity.  The area is 3/4 mile long with access only along one side, providing for quality deer and turkey hunting for those willing to walk a distance.
