Event Summary

May 17 is National River Cleanup Day! Join the millions of volunteers who have helped collect garbage and debris on this day in communities across the United States. Picking up garbage and debris from around our rivers and watersheds help to keep water healthy for all organisms who rely on it. 

This paddle and pick up will be approximately 2 hours and cover 6 miles of the Maquoketa river. Participants will meet at the Royertown Bridge access just north of Baldwin at 9AM and end at Joinerville Park around 12PM, but are asked to help with clean up. We have 10 91-person) kayaks and 8 (2-3 people) canoes that can be borrowed but participates are encouraged to bring their own! Registration is REQUIRED in advanced, and if you will be borrowing a canoe or kayak. Participants should also be willing to help shuttle others back to vehicles at the end of the paddle. Wear clothing appropriate for being on the  river for half of the day, bring snacks, water, and sunscreen. This event is free and open to all ages, children must be accompanied by an adult.
