Discover Hills Access in Iowa City

Anglers will find plenty of river shoreline for fishing and a boat ramp access to the river.  Facilities include: a campground with 20 campsites (13 with 30-50-amp electrical sites and 7 primitive sites), pit toilets, picnic tables, a playground, grills, and fire slabs.

Along with the campground, playground, and fishing access, visitors stop by Hills Campground for eagle viewing. Especially in the winter, this site is regularly frequented by bald eagles along the Iowa River.

The boat ramp serves as a popular take-out for paddlers who complete the 9.25-mile route along the Iowa River, starting at the Sturgis Ferry Boat Ramp in Iowa City.

The area of Hills Access on the east side of the Iowa River is open to hunting with the use of archery equipment or falconry only.
