Shelter Rental Contract Agreement (Please read prior to making any reservations.)

By your agreement with these terms and conditions, you represent that you are 21 years or older and that you are authorized to make the reservation on behalf of the group you have listed. You further agree to assume full responsibility for the acts, negligence or omissions of the members of your group while utilizing said facilities.

Additionally, you agree that you have read and understand the CANCELLATION and REFUND POLICIES concerning this reservation, and have also read and understand the FACILITY CONTRACT information.

You are reserving a facility in a Sioux County Conservation Board park. ALL COUNTY PARK RULES AND STATE LAWS ARE ENFORCED. Contact the Park Ranger or call the administration office if you have any questions about park rules, policies or special requests.

Failure to clean up the facility or surrounding area as outlined, or failure to comply with park rules or state laws may result in enforcement action. Sioux County Conservation Board may take any legal action necessary to recover damages to county property.

CHECK-IN TIME- After 7:00 AM on day of rental.

CHECK-OUT TIME- Before 10:30 PM on day of rental.

GETTING INTO FACILITY- For the Alton Roadside Park, Big Sioux Shelter and Oak Grove Lodge your shelter key will be placed in a locked key safe mounted to the wall of the shelter near the door. Sandy Hollow Lodge Lock box is located on pillar near entrance door.

To gain access to your shelter key, please follow these directions:

• Use Confirmation Code on email.


• Slide black cover down to reveal number dial on key safe.


• Arrange numbers correctly.


• Pull down on black push tab left of numbers and open box.

GENERAL INFORMATION- Violation of any state law or county regulation by any member of the rental party is cause for revocation of the rental privilege and the entire party may be required to leave the area.

Capacity of our facilities:

• Alton Roadside Park- 50 people 


• Big Sioux Shelter- 50 people


• Oak Grove Lodge- 100 people


• Sandy Hollow Lodge- 150 people

No overnight rentals allowed in any shelter facility.

Renter is responsible for keeping facility secure during times request.

DAMAGE DEPOSITS- Are required for the Oak Grove Lodge and Sandy Hollow Lodge. Damage deposits must be turned in to the Sioux County Conservation Board Administration Office no less than 14 days; and, no more than 30 days prior to your reservation. Damage deposit must be in the form of a check, we will shred the check after the rental, if no damages occurred during rental and facilities are cleaned inside and out as they were presented to your group.

Damage deposits are as follows:

• Big Sioux Shelter- $100


• Oak Grove Lodge- $200


• Sandy Hollow Lodge- $250
  
  
  
  • If deposit is not received prior to your rental you will not have access to facility until you have made contact with Park Ranger on duty and deposit has been collected.
  
  
  
  

PARKING- Parking is confined to designated parking area of shelter facility. No parking or driving off roadways. Your party is responsible for all vehicle parking. Sandy Hollow Lodge rentals must purchase vehicle passes upon entering park if not pre-paid for prior to rental. To pre-pay for vehicle passes renter must send check for $1 per vehicle preferably between 7 days prior to your rental or no more than 30 days prior to your reservation. Must be separate check from deposit check.

PETS- Pets are not allowed in rental facility.

CLEAN-UP- You are required to clean-up the facility and grounds and return them to the condition you received them. Plan to have your facility cleaned and people departed prior to 10:30 PM. Failure to do so will result in no-refund of damage deposit.

GARBAGE- It is the renter’s responsibility to remove all garbage from shelters upon departure. There are dumpsters located nearby rental facility for disposal of garbage during rental.

FIREWOOD- Out of state firewood is prohibited. Renters may be required to provide a “proof of origin certification” for firewood in their possession. Local firewood may be brought in if within 30 mile radius of park. Remember, “BUY LOCAL, BURN LOCAL.” Firewood is provided for shelters that have wood burning fireplaces. Fire ring located near Sandy Hollow Clubhouse, is not included in facility rental.

Firewood is available for purchase at the entrance booth at both Big Sioux Recreation Area and Sandy Hollow Recreation Area during the summer months. At Oak Grove firewood is available at wood box in Deer Run Campground.

BEER/WINE REQUIREMENTS- Keg beer and liquor are prohibited in all SCCB areas.

VISITORS- All visitors (other than registered overnight campers) must depart the park by 10:30 PM.

DIRECTIONAL SIGNS AND DECORATIONS- Temporary, free standing directional signs are allowed- not to be attached to park property such as: furniture, signposts or other facilities. Decorations are allowed as long as they are free standing or not affixed in a manner that would damage a facility or any painted walls (tape, tacks and staples cause damage to walls). The use of a no-stick adhesive is recommended. Special care should be taken with balloons so that they do not “escape” and possibly injure wildlife. No open flame candles are allowed.

SMOKING- Sioux County is a smoke-free environment. Smoking is prohibited in all buildings.

Failure to clean up the facility or surrounding area as outlined, or failure to comply with park rules or state laws may result in enforcement action. Sioux County Conservation may take any legal actions necessary to recover damages to county property.

All reservations with Sioux County Conservation Board facilities are final. Reservations are non-refundable, unless the following situations were to occur:

• We are unable to provide your facility (or like facility) in operable condition for the date of your event.

• Accident, serious injury or death of an immediate family member.
