The Prairie Woods Nature Center offers an opportunity to gain a better understanding of Sioux County’s environment and history. Interactive exhibits provide information on different habitats including wetland, prairie, forest, as well as covering Sioux County’s geology and settlement history. The nature center is also home to the Sioux County Conservation Environmental Education animals, environmental education programming and Administration Offices.

The Sioux County Conservation Board is located in northwest Iowa with the Big Sioux River as the western boundary and is home to Oak Grove/Big Sioux Park near Hawarden. The Sioux CCB manages 24 parks, natural areas, water recreation accesses and rest areas across the county, encompassing some 2,653.3 acres.
