Hickory Hill primitive campsite is located near the south end of Camp WaNoKi. This site is located near breath taking views overlooking the Des Moines River. This open site location provides an open shelter and fire pit. A max of 6 people can occupy this site. Please see rules for more detailed information. Registered campers of this site hike the .3 mile through the woodlands from the front parking lot.

Hickory Hill Primitive Campsite

  • All reservations must be made online: 2 night minimum on weekends, 3 night minimum on holidays
  • $15 per night
  • 6 person max
  • Hammocks must wrap around tree (no screws)
  • Leave No Trace Principles apply - no services. Visit HERE for more information
  • Privy available - no toiletries provided 
  • May harvest dead fallen wood from the ground but may NOT cut down or damage live trees DO NOT TRANSPORT FIREWOOD ACROSS STATE OR COUNTY LINES
  • Non registered guests must leave park by 10:30 pm
  • Keg beer is not permitted
  • Towed wheeled vehicles are not permitted, including: coolers, wagons, and luggage (bicycles are permitted)
  • Pets must be on a least at all times. Owners are responsible for the removal and disposal of pet waste
  • No refunds
  • Parking in front parking lot allows for 2 vehicles per site

Hickory Hill Primitive Campsite is available for $15 per night. Max of 6 people.

Reservations
*Reservations may be made up to one year in advance of your arrival date.
*Two night minimum for weekends (Friday & Saturday), 3 night minimum for weekends including a holiday  
*Camping reservations must be made at least three days in advance of arrival date.


Hours of Operation & Seasons

Park hours are 6:00 am - 10:30 pm. A gate will automatically close at 10:30 pm and then reopen at 6:00 am.
