Delhi Dam Access

The Delhi Dam Access is located 1.5 miles south of Delhi in section 29 of Delhi Township (T88N-R4W) Delaware County, Iowa.

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources purchased this 10.9-acre area in 1989. The goal of this area was to provide public access to the Maquoketa River downstream of the Lake Delhi Dam. In 1991 the Iowa DNR constructed an access road, parking area and concrete boat ramp accessing the river with assistance from the Marine Fuel Tax fund.

The Iowa DNR entered into a management agreement in 1992 with the Delaware County Conservation Board. To date the county conservation maintains this area for outdoor recreational users. This area provides public access to the river for canoeing, kayaking and fishing. There is a quality catch release area for small mouth bass in the four mile stretch from the Delhi Dam Access to the Pioneer Road River Access. This stretch of river also provides fishing for walleye, catfish and pan fish.

This is also one of the more scenic stretches of the Maquoketa River. The high rock bluffs and diverse woodlands make this a beautiful river corridor along with a diversity of wildlife.

The Delhi Dam Access allows recreational users an opportunity to see and explore the diversity and beauty of the Maquoketa River.
