Public Hunting Controlled Access

Enforceable under Iowa Chapter 350.5 (3) Hunting

All Hunting:

• Must be outside of Wildlife Refuge only and in Osterkamp South Addition.
• Must have a valid Iowa hunting licenses and associated fees and tags.
• Obey all boundary signs and refuge signs.
• Remains of game shall be disposed of at least 50 yards away from parking areas.
• State species and limits apply for pheasants, deer, and turkey. All other game may not be hunted or trapped on the property.
• All State of Iowa laws apply.
• Be mindful of where you hunt and shoot. Area is available to hikers.
• Caution: deer and pheasant hunting seasons overlap. Closed to pheasant hunting activities Tuesday's, Wednesday's, and Thursday's during regular pheasant hunting seasons. Open if Veteran's, Thanksgiving, Christmas Day or New Year Day fall on one of these days.
• Must be parked in designated parking locations.

Pheasant Hunting Rules: 

• A maximum of eight persons, regardless of age, are allowed per permit. Limit of 2 hunts per pheasant hunting season per person. These limits do not apply to youth season.
• Anyone hunting pheasant in the Osterkamp South Addition must have obtained a special use permit from Sioux County Conservation prior to engaging in that activity.
• The special use permit is non-transferable.
• Permits for hunting pheasant will be valid 8am-noon or noon- 4:30 pm. Whichever is designated on permit.
• Permit must be displayed in window of participating vehicles.
• The Sioux County Conservation Department reserves the right to issue or deny approval of permits.

Deer Hunting Rules:

• Primitive weapons only (bow and muzzleloader).
• No party hunting, no pushing or driving deer.

Turkey hunting Rules:

• Must obey all state laws no restrictions on method of take.
